K+C will make its SummerStage debut with a restaging of Bolero NYC and a cast of fifty, celebrating city life. The New York Times raved, “Bolero NYC was the tour de force of the evening.” The program will also include Megalopolis, set to M.I.A. and Steve Reich, and audience favorite, Love Songs.

 

The 2011 season promises to be as impressive as ever, with fourteen FREE SummerStage Dance performances scheduled, this will be a sizzling summer season filled with cutting edge dance performances. SummerStage Dance will run June 10 to August 20.

Dance enthusiasts will be visually engaged with a stunning array of performances that feature a variety of dance genres including tap, hip-hop, step, modern, flamenco and numerous others. Audiences can look forward to the jaw-dropping premiere of an exceptional work from Karole Armitage’s acclaimed dance company, ARMITAGE GONE! DANCE set to original music composed and performed by Grammy-nominated jazz pianist, VIJAY IYER. Tap legend Omar Edwards opens up the dance season with his company, PASSION OF TAP which will awe audiences with their unique brand of fast-flying “foot music.” Contemporary dance superstar KEIGWIN + COMPANY will perform a spirited restaging of its influential work, “Bolero NYC” with a cast of 50 dancers. Up and coming choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie graces SummerStage with the world premiere of his new company, DANCE GRAND MOULTRIE and an exhilarating series of original works.
