Emily Schoen was born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin where she began her dance training under Kellie Plath. She furthered her studies at the University of Arizona where she graduated summa cum laude with honors, with a BFA in Dance and a BS in Nutritional Sciences. While in school, she performed works by Paul Taylor, Doug Nielsen, and Frank Chavez of River North Dance Chicago, and was awarded the Undergraduate Creative Achievement Award for the School of Dance. Since graduation, Emily has toured Germany, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, Mexico and Russia while dancing for Nejla Yatkin/NY2 Dance. She has also danced for Nicholas Andre Dance, and the Metropolitan Opera in Mark Morris’s production of Orfeo Ed Eurydice. She currently dances for the Steps Repertory Ensemble in addition to being a proud member of Keigwin and Company. In January 2011, Dance Magazine chose Emily as one of their “Top 25 to Watch.”
