December 2011

Dear Friend of KEIGWIN + COMPANY,

From our New York home at The Joyce Theater and the distinctive circular space of Works & Process at the Guggenheim to the beaches of the Vineyard Arts Project and the mountains of the Green Box Arts Festival in Colorado, our electrifying 2011 season found KEIGIWN + COMPANY engaging audiences on a myriad of stages nationwide. It was a whirlwind of creative projects, new collaborations, and stellar performances, with each singular space providing inspiration as we developed and shared our work with you. We are so grateful to our friends and supporters, who made all of this activity possible.

The coming year provides even more opportunities for us to enliven new audiences with K+C’s vigorous physicality, style, and wit, and you can help. Support from friends like you is vital to our ability to pay our dancers, create and present new work, nurture innovative artistic collaborations, and educate aspiring dancers. I ask you now to be a part of our thrilling year ahead by making a year-end contribution.

Here are just two projects your donation would help support:

  •  The world premiere of THREE NEW WORKS at The Joyce Theater on June 12th – 17th, 2012. Over the coming seven months, we will be hard at work in the studio creating three new dances, ranging from the company’s first new work for 12 dancers set to a score by electronic composer and longtime collaborator Jonathan Pratt to a new quartet. I am also thrilled to share my first new solo in nearly ten years. I am so looking forward to diving into a new creation period with our supremely talented dancers and artistic partners and discovering fresh creative impulses and influences.
  • The launch of our first summer intensive program in May 2012. Aspiring dancers will get an inside glimpse at the experience of being a dancer with K+C. The company will offer a one-week summer intensive program at The Juilliard School that captures the company’s unique brand of contemporary dance. Through a curriculum that focuses on artistic collaboration and dancing alongside professional dancers, K+C aims to provide participants with experiences and skills that will better position them for success in the current professional dance world.
Over the past several years, K+C has undergone a period of high visibility and growth. Despite our success, we continue to face the challenges hallmark to our field, including securing the resources necessary to foster the creative process while striving to build audiences and strengthen our organizational infrastructure. Contributions from you, our family of supporters, are significant to our ability to flourish and advance our vision of dance at this time.

We hope that you will continue your support of KEIGWIN + COMPANY during this essential time of creative activity and growth.

Thank you for being a part of our community. With your continued support and dedication, K+C is looking forward to another fantastic season in 2012.
