About KEIGWIN + COMPANY

KEIGWIN + COMPANY
was founded in 2003 and bridges the gap between artistry and entertainment, creating dances that are accessible and engaging to broad audiences. Guided by Larry Keigwin, K+C has presented performances throughout NYC and nationwide at venues including The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Joyce Theater, Summerdance Santa Barbara, New York City Center, American Dance Festival, and annually reaches approximately 25,000 individuals. K+C has received grants from the Jerome Robbins New Essential Works (NEW) Program, The Greenwall Foundation, The O'Donnell-Green Music & Dance Festival, National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York State Council on the Arts.

Since the company's premiere performance, K+C has created 16 dances, including Natural Selection (2004), a theatrical microcosm of Darwinian theory set to music by Michael Gordon, Love Songs (2006), a romantic series of duets that unfolds to classics by Aretha Franklin and Neil Diamond, and the large-scale choreographic event, Bolero (2007). Now a centerpeice of K+C's outreach work, Bolero incorporates a cast 50 community members and dancers into a tableau of a specific region. Based on the succes of Bolero NYC (2007 & 2009), in September 2009, K+C premiered Bolero Colorado at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts in Denver and developed Bolero Santa Barbara and Bolero Suburbia in 2010 to critical acclaim. Recent heralded works include Triptych (2009), set to original music by composer Jonathan Pratt and Sidewalk (2009), accompanied by Steve Reich's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Double Sextet" and commissioned by Works & Process at the Guggenheim. K+C's most recent dance, Bird Watching (2010) was made possible by the Jerome Robbins New Essential Works Program and premiered at the company's first solo week at The Joyce Theater in March 2010.
